USU Jon M. Huntsman School Of Business

The Center for the Market Diffusion of Renewable Energy and Clean Technology is a research and educational outreach center in the Jon. M. Huntsman School of Business. It is funded by grants from the U.S. Department of Energy, Department of Energy's Wind Powering America program and the Marriner S. Eccles Foundation.

Marketing professors Dr. Cathy L. Hartman and Dr. Edwin R. Stafford direct the center. Their academic research on green marketing, clean energy and sustainable entrepreneurship has been published in a variety of business management, environmental policy, and sustainability
journals. In collaboration with Michelle Nunez of GreenTech Films, Stafford and Hartman co-produced and co-wrote,Wind Uprising, a
peer-reviewed documentary film about the four-year struggle to establish Utah’s first commercial wind power project at the mouth of Spanish
Fork Canyon. The film has been screened over 100 times across the country, from Hawaii to Vermont, at a variety of film festivals, universities,
rural communities, and academic, policy, and energy conferences. The film has earned three awards and has been released on DVD. The film
is now being used as an educational tool across the country.

Several of Hartman and Stafford’s students have found employment in the renewable energy sector, including at the National Renewable
Energy Laboratory, Intermountain Wind & Solar, Gardner Engineering, Wasatch Wind, and First Wind.
