Reduce energy and compete to win prizes!
Why would I reduce my energy consumption?
Many USU students do not pay their energy bills, but they are using energy. Our energy consumption contributes to the Cache Valley's air quality and greenhouse gas emissions. Practice habits that will improve air quality in Logan and save money when you are paying your own energy bills in the USU Energy Wars.
Are prizes involved?
1. Each week of the Energy Wars the top residence area will get a weekly prize, like cookies or hot chocolate.
2. At the end of month one, the top area will get a food event. Think waffles for breakfast or ice cream in the afternoon.
3. The top area at the end of the challenge will get a trophy and dance party!
How do you decide which hall wins?
Since each hall is unique with different numbers of students and different amenities, each hall will compete against its average energy consumption over the past two years. The area that reduces its consumption by the largest percentage compared to the last two years will win.
What can I do?
Save energy in the small things you do. Small changes by many people in the hall add up to big changes. Make some changes, and ask your friends to join.
